Just had some Adagio tea, Jasmine #9. It’s…. bizarre. I’m not an experienced tea drinker and ive never had oolong or jasmine tea. It had a very interesting smell, but not a good one. Perhaps best akin to almost an aerosol can trying to cover up a dog going to the bathroom on the carpet. The tea didn’t feel nearly as awful on the tongue however. Id rate it almost a C- on my palette.

So I hit 20 on March 7th, 2009. Have things changed very much? No, of course not, its only been a week. But have things changed in the past few years? Very much so.
In the grand scheme of things, a few years is nothing spectacular, how many people really change in a few years? But the ages from 15/16 to 20, the personality, the type of person, the actions one engages in, are radically different from year to year even. It’s a very active and amorphous life style.
Now that I’m 20, I’ve noticed that things within the past year or so have started to fall into a category. That category would be one of “20 something guy who hangs out in bars/clubs/parties and tries to balance out his life between work, school and play. All of this is grounded in the role of the “Chosen Family”. The family that we do get to choose, our closest friends. Perhaps all of those television shows truly do have a basis in the real world. Not THE “Real World” obviously, but shows like Friends or How I Met Your Mother. This of course begs the question, is this life imitating art or art imitating life? Do people act this way because of the influences on them on how to act? Is this a cultural phenomenon that is alluded to when your a child that by the time of 18-29, your actions will follow a certain regiment of comedy/social behavior/drunkenness.
Whether any of these questions can be truly answered. I truly do feel that my life is beginning to imitate the lives of those on the television. Now I’m not complaining or anything, im enjoying every minute of it. Mostly because i acknowledge that these things cannot last forever, but i always wondered what my life would be like at 20. Well now I know, and knowing is half the battle. Updates periodically throughout this next decade.

It’s nice to be young. Perspective wise when ever you feel like the world is coming down on you, all you have to do is realize that hey, your still young. There is much living to do and that you can still make the choices you want for your future. Not a new sentiment to be had by a person, but one that should stick with society.
